The Mag Bottle
Designed in a response to a RFP by Starbucks the Mag Bottle aimed to bring a unique silhouette to Starbucks in store merchandise. The Mag bottle was selected and sold nationwide. It continues to be ordered for select Reserve stores and solid in other countries around the world.

Development Process
The process began by observing the current assortment in Starbucks and attempting to bring a new item that would provide the user with a unique experience while keeping to the limitations of the requested product. Two main points were focused on to fulfill these limitations.
Simple Silhouette
It was required to have a simple shaped bottle that would be able to accept graphic treatments.
Unique Feature
We chose to focus on the issue of the disconnected lid. Most threaded bottles have lids that will be separated when in use and can be easily lost or broken.
Sketching & Prototyping Process
The sketching process focused on creating a simplistic shape that would allow for a magnetic connection between the lid and body. Sketching through different forms to visualize how the lid and magnetic connection would be interacted with shaped the overall design of the lid. It was important that the connection remained aesthetically pleasing while serving its core function to hold the lid in place.

Embedded Magnets
Two strong neodymium magnets are embedded in the lid and the collar. These magnets are securely sealed with sonic welded plastic coverings and offer strong holding power.

Attach Lid To Body
Move the lid close to the body and it will snap into place securely holding your lid.

Line Up Magnets
Flip over the lid and line up the top of the lid with the magnetic notch on the bottle.

Unscrew The Lid
Twist the lid counter clockwise one full turn to remove.
