Lounger
Designed and fabricated in Denmark. The lounger was designed to have a visually simplistic frame and use the slotted seat structure as the cross sections, reducing the need of additional material. The assembly screws are proudly shown in the spirit of Danish honesty in design.
During our time in Denmark we visited multiple museums and showrooms to understand the aesthetic and design intent of Scandinavian Designers. Based on that research I ideated through sketching, building small scale models, and full scale drawings until a final design was reached. Full scale orthographic views were hand drawn and redrawn in CAD to be use in the shop.
Process

The final design utilizes a single piece frame design that allows for both strength and flexibility. The wood slats make up the structure of the chair providing cross support and rigidity held together with exposed hardware to highlight the danish principles of honest design. The open metal frame allows for small amounts of flex in the back support and legs for a comfortable sitting experience. The rounded front edge and frame ends bring a softness to the otherwise linear aesthetic of the chair.
